What is $API?
$API is a coin on pump.fun. Every trade of it pays a fee, and that fee goes to the people holding it, every 10 minutes. You do not stake it, lock it or deposit it. Holding is the whole mechanism.
The name is the second half. An API is how one program talks to another. This one talks to AI models, and it speaks the same language as OpenAI, so most AI tools and code can use it with no changes.
So there are two ways to be paid. Take the fee as SOL and it is money. Take it as credit on the endpoint and it is 1.5x as much, spendable on models.
The coin has not launched. Figures on this site read zero until the first split runs, and the contract address appears here and in the header at launch.
How rewards work
where the money comes from
pump.fun pays a share of every trade to whoever created the coin. That share is the only money in this system. Nothing is minted for it and nobody deposits into it.
splits every 10 minutes
A worker runs on a timer. Each run collects the fees that have built up, reads who holds the coin at that moment, and records what each holder is owed. One run is one split.
Your share is your balance against everyone else’s, at the moment of that reading. Hold twice as much as someone and you are owed twice as much.
why a small holder may see nothing in SOL
Solana will not let an account hold less than a minimum balance, so a transfer that would land under it fails. A SOL share smaller than that minimum, around 0.00065 SOL, cannot be sent.
When that happens the amount stays in the fee wallet and goes into the next split, shared by whoever holds then. It is not held in your name and it is not lost. Credits have no floor of this kind, which is one reason to take them instead.
SOL or credits
SOL is the default and arrives in your wallet. Credits are worth 1.5x the dollar value of the SOL they replace. The choice applies from the next split onward, and you can change it whenever you like.
Switching to credits
- Open the dashboard and connect a Solana wallet.
- Sign the message it shows you. A signature is not a transaction: it moves no money and gives this site no power over your wallet.
- Switch the payout from SOL to credits. It takes effect at the next split.
That is the whole opt-in. If you never do it, you are paid in SOL and nothing is missing. To spend the credits, the developers page has the setup.
Questions
what is an api, in one sentence?
A way for one program to talk to another. Here, it is how your code or your AI tool reaches models like GPT and Claude.
do i have to be a developer?
No. Take the SOL payout and you never touch the API. The credits are for people who want them.
do i have to claim anything?
No. Payouts are sent to you. There is no claim button and nothing expires.
what am i signing on the dashboard?
One line of text with a random number in it. It proves the wallet is yours so the page can show your balance and your keys. It is not a transaction and cannot spend anything.
what happens if i sell?
You keep what you were already paid. Each split reads who holds at that moment, so selling before one means that split passes you by.
what does this cost?
Nothing beyond the pump.fun trading fee you pay on any coin. Credits are spent at each model's own rate.
what if the api goes down?
The payouts and the API are separate programs. If the API stops answering, calls fail and no credits are spent. The splits keep running either way.
can i switch back to sol?
Yes, in the dashboard, any time. The change applies from the next split.
Contract and links
The contract address is the only one to trust. Check it against this page and against the project’s own posts before you buy.
